Murderous Camouflage Branding, Website, & Promotions
Client: Big Quiche Productions
Create branding, promotions and a website for an independent film from Big Quiche Productions called "Murderous Camouflage".
Synopsis: Someone killed legendary porn king Fat Guy, and Detectives Moose & Squirrel must go deep undercover (literally) to find the murderer with the help of their “special” homicide unit. The trail twists and turns until the squad uncovers more than anyone would have ever given them credit for.
What is the challenge that Big Quiche presented you with?
As a small production company, the primary goal with this project was to gain exposure and recognition for the film. Secondary goals included creating a showcase which would help gain development capital for the film, as well as presenting photos and clips of the film, selling merchandise, and encouraging dialogue between Big Quiche Productions and the audience.
How did you go about meeting that challenge?
The first stage was to create a logo which would reflect the films themes – mystery, horror, and humor. Paul Kiesche Design digitally illustrated the logo to represent a detective’s badge, later animating that logo for use on the website and flash teaser.
Following the logo, a Flash teaser was created to introduce the film to the prospective audience. Using simple graphics and sounds, the teaser shocked audiences and whet their appetites – leaving them wanting more.
The next stage of promotion was to create the website at murderouscamouflage.com. Designed and programmed to reach a large audience, the site broadcast the movie trailer, teaser, and following the release of the film the site broadcast the finished film. Animations, interactive graphics, photos, music, and behind-the-scenes information were available to entertain and attract viewers. Fun features like custom illustration, effects, and animations helped make the site more exciting.
Following the launch of the website and the release of the film, postcards and other promotional materials were created to draw attention to the film at independent film festivals.
What inspired you on the design of this project?
Murderous Camoflage the movie is a fun, hilarious, gross, exciting movie – the movie was inspiration in itself. We were going for a dark, twisted, detective, horror and humorous look and feel. It was a tough combination to achieve.
How was the project received? What were the results?
The teaser, logo, and site drew both traffic and attention to the movie, which received great reviews at film festivals. The site became a center for discussions related to the movie, and audiences raved about how they enjoyed the full experience. |
