The Political Channel
Client: The Political Channel
Awarded: Gold, Horizon Interactive Awards
Challenge: The Political Channel (PCTV) is a production company and distribution Entity, providing entertainment with a Political Twist to a targeted national and international audience. Paul Kiesche Design's challenge was to design their identity and website. Targeting an audience of ages 18 to 24, PCTV's objective was to promote and showcase their original programs and create a central location for political information as well as encourage interaction with their viewers.
Solution: After assessing The Political Channel's goals, information architecture was developed to define user personas and flow. The information architecture also included a full wireframe and sitemap helping indicate space allocation, information hierarchy, new interactive tools, strong organization, and a 5 year projection plan to help with any future expansion of the site. The site was designed to be young, exciting, and interesting while remaining functional and structured for user experience. The primary focus was to promote and broadcast the original shows developed by PCTV. By featuring streaming flash video, contests, cartoons, and blogs, the site added to the user's experience and helped to promote the channel. Features like mailing lists, message boards and voting polls encouraged communication between the viewers and the PCTV team.
Result: The site drew considerable attention during the 2004 election and is now preparing for the 2008 election. It remains a hub of information for political entertainment and discussion. The site was awarded the Gold at the 2005 Horizon Interactive Awards.
